Bawa’s strategy focuses on market access. By marketing and selling products from marginalized producers, it gives them the opportunity to make money from global markets. They can then use this income to transform their own lives from one of poverty to prosperity and fulfillment.

The company encourages the groups to employ the use of recycled and sustainably sourced material. These include tin, wire, sisal, banana fiber, natural seeds and safe wood. These materials are not only more affordable and accessible to producers, but they also help to safeguard our environment.

Most of Bawa la Tumaini's producer partners are women. With their attention to detail, commitment and hard work, women form the backbone of the company. Though often marginalized by mainstream business, women are the foundation of most African families, enabling the company increase its impact on the community.
